How the Patient Journey Works - Sims IVF
As one of the leading fertility clinics in Ireland since 1997, we have had many patients come in and out of our doors, each with a completely different story. However, with fertility, there can come a wave of uncertainty and anxiety. We understand that this process can be quite daunting. Our main goal at Sims IVF is to ensure that you receive the best possible care from our highly skilled and passionate team of fertility specialists. We also want our patients to understand exactly what is going on throughout your whole journey. This will help to relieve some of the stress of the unknown and give you an idea of how this process works.
We have broken down the overall process so for those who are interested in starting their journey to parenthood or are already navigating their fertility journey.
Your journey to parenthood with Sims IVF will start when you fill out the enquiry form here. This form will show us your enquiry reason, which clinic you would like to attend, and your personal details, so we can get in touch with you. If you are not sure exactly where to start, we are happy to discuss your query and answer any questions. Please reach out to our expert team, and we are happy to assist.
The next step on your journey through the clinic is that one of our patient coordinators will get in touch with you over the phone to discuss your enquiry and answer any questions you may have.
It is important to note that all patient information given over phone, online, and in person is confidential. We follow strict GDPR guidelines to ensure that all patient information is secure.
Once you are happy to proceed, our patient co-ordinator will add your details to our patient system and proceed to book you in for your initial consultation or fertility investigations. We strongly recommend conducting your fertility investigations (such as AMH, assessment scan, and semen analysis if you have a male partner first. This means that when our patient co-ordinator books you in for the next part of your journey, which is the initial consultation with our doctor, the doctor will discuss your results alongside your medical history and lifestyle and provide a better sense about what treatment options you may need and what pathway would suit you best. This saves time to treatment as the doctor can begin helping you and providing you with a personalised treatment plan sooner.
It’s now time for your initial consultation and/or investigations. If you are completing a fertility assessment package, you will meet with one of our nurses where they will complete blood tests and an assessment scan to understand more about your fertility status and your needs.
Once these results come back, it is now time to meet your doctor at your initial consultation! Our doctor will sit down with you, based on your preference, either face to face in person or online over a video call and based on the information from your results and your medical history design a treatment plan catered to your exact individual needs. It is important to go into this appointment with an open mind as every patient and journey is different, don’t compare yourself to others and trust that our doctors always want the best for you. Our treatment plans are designed with care, trust, and professionalism, based on your individual needs.
With the doctor’s treatment plan in place, one of our nurses will then arrange a nurse consultation call you to discuss your treatment plan in detail, answering any questions you may have and making sure you are happy to go ahead with your treatment.
Don’t worry if you didn’t take in all the information given at your initial consultation, we understand this can be an overwhelming time for some and we understand that it is impossible to remember everything. That is why use Salve. Salve is our communications app where you can chat to our nurses via the app messaging system with any questions you may have. If you forget or are confused at any stage during your journey, we strongly recommend you reach out to us as we always want to help.
Next, our patient co-ordinator team will be in touch to discuss the financial part of the journey and confirm the costs associated with your treatment. We understand that this journey can take a toll on you mentally, physically, and financially. This is why we have partnered with Humm, Access Fertility, VHI, Laya Health, Irish Life, and the HSE to ensure that you are supported through every part of this journey. Once you are happy with everything, our patient co-ordinator will schedule you in for any agreed investigations.
And then…your treatment begins.
