Understanding success rates
You’ll notice the success rates graph show both biochemical pregnancies and clinical pregnancies. A biochemical pregnancy is a pregnancy test conducted 10-14 days after treatment that has had a positive outcome. A clinical pregnancy is when we have confirmed that initial positive as being an ongoing pregnancy determined with a scan between 8 – 12 weeks.
The success rates are also split by age group. The reason for this is that one of the most important factors for success is the female age. Unfortunately, as maternal age increases, the chances of success decreases.
The success rate for patients at Sims IVF range from 51.7% for patients under 39 years to 24% for patients over 40 years.
To put those figures into perspective, a younger couple in their late twenty or early thirties trying to conceive naturally and with no fertility issues would have around 20-25% chance of conceiving on their own each month.
