As Chairman and Medical Director of Sims IVF it is my task to ensure that we continue to achieve world class pregnancy results in our IVF programmes and also continue to provide the highest standards of patient care.
From our beginnings in Dublin City University in 1997 we have grown rapidly. In 2007 we carried out over 800 Assisted Reproduction Treatment cycles. In that time we have become Ireland's largest fertility unit and have introduced many new treatment regimes in the management of our patients.
To cope with the growing demand for our services and to continue to provide the level of care, we expanded our team. We increased our nursing staff to seven and put in place a dedicated ultrasonographer. The administration department also increased and our finance team now has four members of staff.
We introduced our donor egg program in 2002 and this has proved to be a resounding success and has alleviated sub fertility for many of our patients who would have had to travel abroad for their treatments. Our Blastocyst programme continues to achieve pregnancy rates in the region of 50% and has proved to be a very valuable addition to our treatment regimes.
In 2007 we moved to a large, specifically designed IVF center at Rosemount Hall in Dundrum. By adhering strictly to our ‘Commitment to Care’ philosophy we have designed this new unit with the needs of our patients in mind. The facilities include a large patient car park and a patient waiting lounge which includes internet access, TV and a self serving refreshment area. This area is adjacent to our ultrasound scanning suite and consulting offices. A new state-of-the-art laboratory has been set up with a fully equipped operating theatre and large recovery ward. Rosemount Hall is located close to the LUAS suspension bridge and the M50. We look forward to welcoming you at our new facilities at Dundrum.
Academically we enjoy a close association with Boston IVF / Harvard Medical School. Learning from our experience and that of our international associates we will continue to strive for excellence in the provision of reproductive medical care to referring practitioners and their patients.
Professor Michael Alper has joined our team as Advisory Consultant in Research and Development. Dr Alper is Medical Director at Boston IVF one of the largest reproductive medical units in the United States.
